Foster's Kitchen (Kailua-Kona) * * *   Posted by on Tuesday, 31 October 2017, at 6:01 p.m.

Foster's Kitchen is on Alii Drive, on the second floor of the building adjacent to the sand volleyball court. Great ocean view! We love this place for lunch - the variety of the menu is much appreciated - but have been disappointed in the food at dinner (also the musician was a little too loud!), and the service was too slow, even for a "slow food" restaurant the last time we were there for lunch (we were their first customers, and it took a half an hour or more just to receive our appetizer bread/beer cheese dip). Everything is made from scratch, so the food may take a little longer to prepare than some other restaurants. That, and the outstanding location, also add to the price of the bill a bit. A varied menu, with something for everyone. Fresh fish, BBQ, flatbread pizzas, and a full bar. For lunch recently I had the Honey Bacon Chicken Club (marinated & grilled chicken, cheddar cheese, candied bacon and avocado herb spread with lettuce, tomato, and onion). I had the Cajun fries with it. Delicious. Bob had the Grilled Veggie Sandwich (grilled eggplant, zucchini, and onions, fire roasted bell peppers, fresh spinach and tomatoes, drizzled with a feta chive creme fraiche and served on rosemary focaccia bread). He pronounced it one of the most flavorful veggie sandwiches he's had on the Big Island. The Cajun Fish Tacos also are highly recommended. The service is wonderful, but do remember that it is a "slow food" place. Open for lunch and dinner every day from 11am-10pm, with TWO happy hours each day from 3-5pm and 9-10pm.
