Ham Radio signal reports (Q1 through Q5) are a short-hand way of discribing: "How well you understand another station's voice transmission." As a way to make your reports more meaningful to others, consider using these guidelines when making a report. To discuss Signal Strength, we us S-Units, not Q1 to Q5. | |
Q1 | Audio barely heard or not heard at all. No words actually understood. |
Q2 | Occasional words or phrases distinguishable. Unable to understand what was being communicated. |
Q3 | Understood the topic but not every sentence was heard. |
Q4 | All sentences are understood, but extra concentration was required. |
Q5 | Understand every word effortlessly. |
