STATE TAX FILING DEADLINE NOT EXTENDED

Aloha Kona Webbers, You may have heard that the feds have extended the income tax filing deadline to May 17th. But did you know that Hawaii has not extended their deadline? The problem is, you have to have the amount you owe the Feds calculated in order to begin to fill out the Hawaii forms. The Hawaii deadline is April 20th. My accountant says that the Hawaii State Tax Office has been silent on the matter.

Unless Hawaii also extends their deadline to May 20th, all us Hawaiians will have to do our taxes in April to avoid a penalty for late filing in Hawaii.

Call, write, text your Hawaii representatives and urge them to have the tax office extend their deadline to match up with the Feds!!
