Elec. Bike - how to get it here?
I'd like to get an electric (fold-up) bicycle, (with closed 48/12amp battery) shipped here to somewhere onto the Big Island. It's new.
Yes, I know the battery is what make shipping an issue.
Of course, I know how one of the best ways is to have the e-bike shipped to my friend on the West cost of the mainland... (A friend in the San Fran Bay area or another friend on the coast of Oregon) who will re-package it and deliver it to a cheaper shipper. This is one way to make it less expensive than would be used by the manufacturer/seller.
Everyone seems to want a "cut" whenever there's something to be shipped, and it can REALLY add up!
Has anyone here done this previously?
Would anyone bring it with them by air who is coming from Oregon or California as part of their luggage? It's about 60 lbs. but technically is a bicycle.
Also, does anyone already HAVE an e-bike who would recommend a bike shop to keep it in top condition? What brands are fixable here?
