Many of us with condo bookings must cancel no fewer than 60 days prior to the start of the booking to recover our sizable lodging deposit. But given the history of regularly changing restrictions and requirements on the Big Island, we're very concerned that more onerous restrictions--such as the mandatory 14-day quarantine for all international travelers--will be reinstated during the 60 days between our November 15 last-day-to-cancel date and our January 15 arrival in Kona. That's one of the main reasons we'll almost certainly be cancelling.
Though we'll be disappointed to miss our annual trip to Kona in 2021, we're very aware of the real hardship COVID-19 has caused many, so we do not complain. The main thing is safeguarding Big Islanders' well-being, and we support whatever measures locals judge are needed to meet that aim.
With our 2021 Big Island budget unpsent, maybe we can do a longer stay in 2022 when--I sure hope--this pandemic is in our rear view mirrors!
