Our wonderful island is focusing on keeping safe during the Coronavirus outbreak. COVID-19 is impacting many of our local businesses, including KONAWEB, but we are happy to be onboard with the required preventive measures. We will not be charging our advertisers until personal movement and travel are deemed safe.
On June 25, 2020, a statewide order from Governor Ige states that you must self-quarantine for 14 days upon arriving in Hawai'i. Beginning September 1, individuals with a valid negative test up to 72 hours prior to their trip will be exempt from the quarantine.
Be aware that others on your flight may not have opted to test early and may be infected.

We know that many of you are "addicted" to the KONAWEB live webcam at Kailua Bay, and use the Big Island Forum for current info. We will keep them up and running for you! The popular Big Island Calendar of Events will be on hold through August, at least.

Free residential household hazardous waste collection

The County of Hawaii’s Department of Environmental Management will hold a free residential household hazardous waste collection event on Aug. 8 in the parking lot of Kealakehe High School in Kailua-Kona.
Between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. that day, the county will collect acceptable household hazardous waste including automotive fluids, used batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and pesticides. No latex paint, electronic waste, or tires will be accepted. For a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items, visit
The event is for householdgenerated and self-hauled waste only. Business, government agency, nonprofit agency, or farm wastes are prohibited by law. Social distancing rules will be in place and face coverings will be required.
The next scheduled West Hawaii collection event is in March 2021 in Waimea.
