Aloha, Friends!
Our wonderful island is focusing on keeping safe during the Coronavirus outbreak. COVID-19 is impacting many of our local businesses, including KONAWEB, but we are happy to be onboard with the required preventive measures. We will not be charging our advertisers until personal movement and travel are deemed safe.
On June 25, 2020, a statewide order from Governor Ige states that you must self-quarantine for 14 days upon arriving in Hawai'i. Beginning September 1, individuals with a valid negative test up to 72 hours prior to their trip will be exempt from the quarantine.
Be aware that others on your flight may not have opted to test early and may be infected.

Unsafe behavior may be reported to the DLNR at (808) 643-3567 or the COVID Hotline at (808) 935-0031.
We know that many of you are "addicted" to the KONAWEB live webcam at Kailua Bay, and use the Big Island Forum for current info. We will keep them up and running for you! The popular Big Island Calendar of Events will be on hold through August, at least.
Keep Hawai'i in your hearts, and we will LOVE to see you when the time is right!   -Konabob and Shirley
Those of you who are in a position to do so, may to help keep KONAWEB online.

Not until - tentatively - September 1st, will travelers be exempt from the mandatory 14-day quarantine if testing negative no more than 72 hours in advance of travel. If results are not available by the time of arrival, quarantine will be necessary until test results are received. All travelers of all ages will be subject to pre-test requirement.
Individuals will be responsible for testing costs. No commercial testing is provided at Hawai‘i airports, therefore, it is strongly recommended that anyone not willing to get pre-tested refrain from visiting Hawaii. Our 14-day quarantine regulations will remain in place and are stringent (guests are not allowed to leave their room except to seek medical care or to go to the airport to return home; food is to be delivered to your door for the full 14 days; all costs for the 14 day quarantine are borne by the visitor). Your adherence to the quarantine will be closely monitored. Violators are prosecuted.

The governor says the pre-test is one part of a multi-layered screening process which includes arrival temperature checks, completion of the State Travel and Health form, and secondary screening for those with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees or higher.
