Recycling, garbage, and more
In response to 143614: recycling, posted by Amanda S on Sunday, 20 October 2019, at 10:11 a.m.
In response to Harry's message, as well as Amanda's.....yes, it's super depressing. The most depressing thing is that in addition to what individuals did or did not recycle, many businesses recycled bigger stuff...and it feels like THAT will fill it up.
I second what Amanda said, there were many unacceptable items. No idea if they were filtered out at the sort station.
Debi McGuire wrote a really compelling letter to the editor of West Hawaii Today, today, that addresses all of the above.
The County Council did not support Council Member Tim Richards' Resolution 301, which asked Dept Env Mgmt and Research and Development to come up with any possible ideas and ways to address our trash and recycling. They wanted to put many conditions that would limit their free thinking. I hope the Council lets them come up with all possible ideas, as the only way to move forward is to be creative. Aloha!
