Little fire ants

Little fire ants--in a recent interview I did with Cas Vanderwoude of the Little Ant Lab in Hilo, and Franny Brewer of the Hawaii Invasive Species Committee, I discovered that they believe that many more people have little fire ants than we think...because they can be undetectable when they're on the ground. Even in West Hawaii. It's when they get into trees that they're then out of control. My this Sunday, Oct. 13 Island Conversations discussion is with Cas and Franny, and konaweb users will probably find it of interest. They talk about how to tell if you have them, and how to deal with them. There is now an ant lab specialist in West Hawaii at the Extension Office across from Aloha Theater. Listen to the Island Conversations interview Sunday Oct 13 at 6:30 a.m. on KWXX (101.5 Kona, 94.7 Hilo) or at 7 a.m. at B93.1 Kona, or B97.1 Hilo. OR, easier, download or subscribe to the podcast at Aloha! Sherry Bracken
