Reasonable rates are as rare as hurricane damage!

Thanks for the input, but I've received multiple homeowners quotes including hurricane (so many companies no longer do biz in lava zones 1-2!!). I've found that stand-alone hurricane insurance doesn't exist It is always a rider on top of a homeowners policy.
All quotes I received were between $3,600 - 4,600, and typically use HPIA, which limits coverage dollars below what would be needed. So, I'd be paying through the bleedin' nose for inadequate coverage!! Also, my $95K unpermitted out-building and contents would not be insured. None of it made me happy. I would have expected such rates to apply to zone 1 rather than zone 2.
I've decided to remain self-insured, as I have for the past 15 years in my current home. Replacing all my stuff would be a hit to my savings, but not anywhere near fatal. My quest for reasonable insurance, none of which apparently exists, was an attempt to guard my savings.
Oh, well... At 70 years old now, my exposure is limited. It will be my kid's problem! I need to get busy spending their inheritance! :D
