It has been our experience that wood brought in from normal mainland sources is, generally, good to go. We have, however, heard from people about issues concerning product purchased directly from companies in South America. Primarily Brazilian cherry and other exotics, then had them shipped to mainland and then on to Hawaii. This seems to cheaper. In every case, however, that I know about the South American wood was held for months in AG for inspection at some considerable expense to the owner.
