In response to 143123: furniture, posted by Jim L3 on Tuesday, 26 February 2019, at 9:34 a.m.

I brought whatever wood furniture I had and liked-teak, mahogany, walnut and cherry mostly. I even put in stranded bamboo floors. Never have had a problem with any of them in the 7-8 years here, except for some water damage to the floor nearest a sliding door on the mauka side of my home.

I live in Kailua-Kona around the 800 ft level. I do have Mason Termite and Pest Control come out quarterly (mostly to deal with centipedes and roaches) so I haven't had termite issues.

My thoughts are bring what you like and makes you feel comfortable. If you are moving to a wetter side of the Island or a higher elevation you may have mold issues on many types of things including wood.

Good luck with your move. I absolutely love living here!
