(newbie member mistake posted this in the wrong spot, so here it is again as a new post-- sorry!)

My husband Nate (carpenter, boat capt.) and I (college bio prof., marine naturalist) just arrived on island Jan. 12th. We're currently in an airbnb down in Naalehu until Feb. 9th, searching for a cat-friendly rental about 800 sq ft (could go smaller by a bit) up somewhere around Holualoa to Captain Cook area, with a bit of yard space (rural would be ideal). I have already started work in Kona and am about to go full-time (!), so we are hoping to find a place this week. (We do have a backup plan to crash with friends temporarily, if we need a bit more time...)

Does anyone on the forum have, or know of, a place for rent that might be suitable for us? We are trying to keep our rent under $1500, before utilities, but realize we may have to go higher. On the other hand, we would also be very interested in a work-for-reduced-rent situation where Nate could put his carpentry and tropical gardening/landscape skills to use to improve the property for the owners. :) Please email me thru the Forum email. Thank you.
