Homeless In Hawaii
In response to 142955: homeless-threat?, posted by Jim MC50 on Friday, 21 December 2018, at 7:28 a.m.
Here here!! Well said Jim. Every time I see something on the news about the homeless on Oahu, and how they just come in and take all their stuff to the dump, I think "That's everything in the world they have!". People always act as if the homeless are causing us a problem. Being homeless, that's a real problem; for the homeless person, not us. If you have a home and a family support system you can fall back on, you have no problems by comparison. Admittedly, I wouldn't want a slightly deranged, and possibly high, person following me down the beach yelling at me. I would have to leave. But I thank God that I have a place to go and a loving wife to welcome me when I get there. Speaking of whom, my wife was in social work back in the 60's. One of her first jobs was working for an organization that made sure people, who were ordered by the court, took their meds. Correct me if I'm wrong, but President Johnson ended that program. Many other programs were eliminated that put thousands of people with mental disabilities out on the streets. It's going to be a growing problem what with robotics eliminating jobs and jobs going over seas coupled with the staggering rise in population growth. I shudder to think what the future holds in store.
Δ For Harry, about that repeal
