We went to this Italian bistro in Waikoloa Village for Bob's 65th birthday celebration recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bob chose this restaurant because he absolutely loves the way they make Eggplant Parmesan. The thin, breaded, & sautéed pieces of eggplant are laid out over the plate with the sauce and cheese rather than stacked in the pre-made casserole style. It's great. The pastas are made in house. I had the chicken cannelloni entree and took half of it home. It was very good, but next time I would like to try one of the very tempting daily specials. You must try the brussels sprouts appetizer! It has a tangy/sweet reduction of balsamic & honey drizzle over roasted (charred) brussels sprouts. You will think of the dish long after your visit...This is a popular place with the condo dwellers/tourists in Waikoloa Village and visitors who make the drive from the coastal resorts, so reservations are not a bad idea. We didn't make them, as it was a Wednesday nite and we went early. We did get a table with no wait, but the place certainly filled up. I mentioned to our waitperson that it was Bob's birthday, and a wonderful chocolate cake and ice cream dessert plate with a card personalized for Bob and signed by the kitchen and waitstaff (!) was brought to our table at the appropriate time. It was a wonderful night. The one downside of this place is that it is very noisy. A party of more than two or three people would have trouble having a conversation here. Open 5-9pm daily. Reservations: (808) 339-7566. Casual, but they request that male patrons refrain from wearing tank tops or shirts without sleeves (they have loaner shirts if you forget). Gluten free options are available.
