We had lunch at Daiichi Ramen, located in Kona Commons by Ultimate Burger and Genki Sushi. It's a small narrow place but they've made good use of seating with two counter-bars and a number of tables that seat 4. They were busy with dining in and takeaway orders, an attentive staff, quick service. I think this is primarily Japanese cuisine but I'm not sure. Ramen and Udon noodles, Gyoza, fried rice, cold noodles, curry, meat and seafood entrees prepared Katsu style, wontons and various choices of noodle soups. We ordered a one-choice and a two-choice, each included a "mini" ramen or udon soup. My gosh, the mini serving was huge! We included fried rice, fish katsu, and a "mini" curry-rice (which was not mini sized). These combos were $8 and $10.75. Drinks are canned soda, green tea, ice water. Food is served quickly, very hot, we asked for forks because the spoons were huge and neither of us are adept with chopsticks. They have a very extensive menu. Open at 10:30am, close 9pm. There are colored photos of all the dishes in the big menu, and a miniature copy of the menu to take home. Prices are in the $9-11 range; soups are $6, sides range from $2.50 to 6.25. They also offer party pans of all sizes. I can't remember what had been in this space before, they've done a nice job of design and decor. This is casual dining with full table service, and you won't leave the place hungry.
