Helped a friend celebrate her birthday at Bubba Gump's on Alii Drive, next to Waterfront Row. It was wonderful. Our table was as close to the waves as possible, excellent service, lots of food, impressive cocktails. We began with a cranberry-coconut-rum drink to toast the birthday, made a meal of 3 pupu dishes, then stuffed ourselves on the 3-desserts sampler and good coffee. We took our time, felt no need to rush, servers were extremely attentive. The menu is full of bright photos, Shrimp is their speciality, but there are many other choices too. Portions are large, food is hot. There is a full bar and a wine menu. Prices are high compared to the mainland but what we expect for oceanside dining in Hawaii. Waves were gorgeous, sun shines through the crests. This is not the place for a quiet, cozy, romantic meal; it's full of energy and enthusiasm. I don't think they serve breakfast anymore. I've only been there once in the evening, the place was hopping. Parking can be a challenge.
