We have a love-hate relationship with this place. Love the food, hate the fact that the meet and greeters are running the place rather than management, who seem mostly invisible.
There was a huge waiting line yesterday, but a quick check revealed at least five tables empty. When we raised this at the desk we were told there was only one person available to seat diners. However, the solitary hostess made several trips to and from the bar without customers.
Finally a waiter was deputised to help out which he did...by engaging the greeter and receptionist in extended conversation. In ten minutes he seated TWO people. Our frustration and decision to go elsewhere was greeted with laughter. Yes, I guess losing several potential diners is amusing...to these clowns.
We've been going to Kona Brewing for more than ten years and never before had such a bad experience. A shame because otherwise it's a great place to eat. A tip to management - show yourself and engage customers like most other restaurants.
