This has always been one of our favorite Big Island restaurants, and we always go our first night here. It was still very good, but not quite at its best. My wife had one of their pizzas, and it just wasn't quite as good as usual. My fish dinner was OK but a bit bland. And the size of the portion was a bit small for the price.
Our biggest complaint was that although the restaurant was not at all crowded, the service was the worst we have ever had there. I suspect that this is because of our particular server rather than their quality of service as a whole. Some of their servers have been there for years and years, and we have always had good service. I hope this time was an exception. We talked to the manager, and she insisted on giving us a generous gift certificate for our next visit. We will go back again because Cafe Pesto has consistently been excellent over the years. But we were a bit disappointed this time.
