Kohala Pacific Diner (Kawaihae) * * * *   Posted by on Sunday, 1 November 2009, at 12:04 p.m.

We found out about this little diner last year loved it. We went again for lunch yesterday, and it hasn't changed. Their food is fresh and fantastic. Their hamburgers are about the best I've had anywhere (and I've traveled throughout the world). Their fish is just out of the water and is as fresh and tasty as it can be.
If you are a fan of spicy stuff, try their Hawaiian Chili Water as a condiment. I love to cook and had never heard of the stuff until they educated us last year. Clif, the chef/owner, and his wife told us what it was and even gave us the recipe. Try it on whatever you are having if you like a little heat.
They are located upstairs from Cafe Pesto in the little mall right where you turn to go up to Hawi. It's very small and only open Tues-Sat 10-4. But if you're around Kawaihae, it's well worth stopping in.
