Lilikoi Cafe (Waimea) * * *   Posted by on Thursday, 17 September 2009, at 5:40 p.m.

We had lunch at the Lilikoi Cafe in Waimea today and enjoyed it thoroughly. There is a choice of quite a few salads and creative sides which you can make a meal of, a good choice of cold sandwiches, a couple of hot ones, and several oven-baked dishes such as lasagna or whatever the chef makes that day. They also have desserts, but we didn't try one today.
Two of us had the ham and melted cheese (we chose Swiss), one on a kaiser roll and one on a baguette. It was served with a nice salad with house-made lilikoi vineaigrette. The third diner had what he felt was some of the best tasting pastrami he'd had in a while, though they don't have rye bread as a choice. We had the fresh beet salad to share in addition and thought it was great. They serve a variety of non-alcoholic drinks. We had just made our monthly pilgrimage to Kamuela Liquor for wine, and asked if we could bring a bottle in. They said yes and didn't charge corkage. Our last experience with lunch at Daniel Thiebaut was only so-so, and Merriman's, while always good is on the expensive side so we were pleased with Lilikoi.
It takes a little looking, being on the back side of the Parker Ranch Center, behind the main section.
