Original Thai, located behind Firestone, offers excellent, traditional and innovative Thai cuisine. Their extensive menu features tasty curries, rice and noodle dishes, stir-fries, great appetizers, and divine soups. Their sauces are outstanding, making their curries superior to any others I have experienced in Kona. Their fried rice dishese are well-seasoned and full of fresh vegetables and tender meats. Having dined at all Thai restaurants, past and present, in Kona, I place Orginal Thai at the top of my list. Original Thai is a family-owned and served restaurant. Service is prompt, friendly, but allows for leisurely dining. Dinner entree prices range from $10 to $18. Lunch special curries, stir-fries, and other dishes are offered at $8.55. Restaurant is decorated with beautiful carved screens and statuary from Thailand. Tables are finished hardwood cross-sections, which adds some exotic to the decor. The restaurant has a pleasant ambience. I have dined at Original Thai many times for both lunch and dinner. It's Kona's best Thai food, and I plan to return many more times. |
