Makali`i Cafe (Kailua-Kona) * * * *   Posted by on Wednesday, 5 August 2009, at 9:10 p.m.

The Cafe has been a favorite spot for breakfast and lunch, and they've just begun their dinner menu, so of course I had to try it. Absolutely the best chili rellenos on the island. Two extra-large battered and deep-fried stuffed green chilies, served with a delicious green sauce, spanish rice, black beans, and guacamole. We also had their chicken saltimbocca, served with spaghetti & veg. The spaghetti was cooked al dente, and the serving size was big enough for two meals. A bowl of soup (clam chowder tonight) came with one of the dinners as well.

For dessert we had their lilikoi cheesecake, light & creamy surrounded by a tasty coating of dark chocolate, and a slice of fresh-baked dutch apple pie, also superior. The above dinner for two, including desserts and tip, was only $37.00.

The menu is very diverse, and sandwiches are available at dinner, too. They still offer their specials menu: two or three additional entrees they change daily.
