Decided to give the Fishhopper a second try after a rather lousy meal there back around Christmas 2008.
Arrived at 7pm and the restaurant was fairly empty. A busboy greeted us immediately and took drink orders for 2 of us in the group, totally ignoring the 3rd person!
For an appetizer we ordered the clams and mussels bordelaise. It was $11.95 but you only got 7 clams and 5 mussels. Kinda pricy in my opinion.
I ordered the Stuffed Lobster special of the day with grilled shrimp and vegetables. At 29.95, it looked like a good deal, until you saw that you got 1/2 of a lobster with a claw with most of the stuffing being breading with some lobster and/or crab mixed in. The stuffing mix was too salty. The claw was very fresh and sweet.
The other lobster special was a lobster tail with 4 bay scallops, 4 shrimps and vegetables for $29.95 that another member of the party ordered. The tail was actually very good and the scallops were prepared well.
The restaurant basically was getting $90 for a whole lobster by selling $30 for each stuffed half and then $30 for the tail. Rather ingenious on their part.
Dessert was chocolate mac nut pie and it was delicious!! Probably the best part of the meal although it took almost 20 minutes to get it served.
Overall, Fishhopper is a good, solid, middle of the road restaurant.
