I have to add my rave to the reviews for Pizzeria Zacchini, located just mauka of Costco. The pizza was the best thin-crust style I have had on the island. Cafe Pesto may be as good, but it is too far from Kona for us most of the time and considerably more expensive. I had a pizza with two kinds of cheese, garlic, and lots of mushrooms with an olive oil base, no red sauce. I also tasted two other kinds ordered by our group, and they were equally good. They use a true wood-burning pizza oven, and are very fast. Draft Sam Adams was $3.75 a mug, and there were two other draft beers, several kinds of bottled beer, and also non-alcoholic drinks.. Pizza is available in one size only, 12-inch, which would be fine for two with average-sized appetites. Salads, dessert, sandwiches etc. were also available, as were a number of wines by glass or bottle, quite reasonable for Kona at $17 a bottle and up. There were four dessert choices tonight as well, two Italian ices, Tahitian vanilla ice cream, and brownies, which could be served as is or heated, with or without ice cream. The only negative was the unavoidable atmosphere created by the pre-fab type of building common here, and a pretty high noise level for the same reason. At sunset, there were people at a couple outdoor tables with a nice sunset view if you could overlook the questionable scenery of the area.
