In Kapa'au town in the brightly painted peachy pink and turquoise building, Sammy D's serves a very good meal. The food is fresh, consistent, and tasty. An $8.00 dinner consists of your choice meat, 2 scoop rice and a side salad (your choice). The fish is always very fresh and cooked exactly right, never overdone. The Korean chicken is spicy and deep-fried. Other choices include hamburger steak w/ gravy and roast pork w. gravy. If you have a bigger appetite, you can order the dinners and split a caesar salad too. The caesar salads can be made a complete meal by adding chicken or fish. A mahi mahi caesar salad makes a great lunch. The service is friendly, the wait time not overly long, the atmosphere is fairly basic. The tables can be moved together to accomodate a large group. There are outside tables if one wants to enjoy the weather. If you still have room after dinner, the ice cream shop next door can provide dessert. If you come up north to escape the vog, then this is a good spot to stop for lunch or dinner. If you work up here and don't have dinner planned, you can call in an order to go.
