Mamane Bakery, which used to be the best place in Honoka'a to buy fabuous, fresh bakery goods is now open as a lunch spot and bakery. It's located next to the former Gaspro, across from Tako Taco and the Waimea Police Station. There are just a few tables, but they do a great take-out business. Their sandwiches are great. They make a terrific panini on their own buns and we have really enjoyed their veggie sandwiches with artichokes and feta cheese and today we shared an eggplant parmesan panini. They even threw in a few small pieces of their apple pie for dessert for our picnic. Prices for sandwiches range from around $6-8 and well worth it. Try it, you'll like it. They are right on Mamalahoa Highway on your way to and fro Hilo-Kona. |
