I stopped in here for lunch with my MIL last week and had such a lovely meal! They recently revamped their menu and it was so hard to choose-I ended up with an heirloom tomato and fresh mozzarella cheese sandwich on a baguette with Asian slaw on the side. It was fanstastic-so fresh a a perfect baguette. My MIL had a crab cake salad that was as beautiful as it was tasty. They have lots of healthy choices and some vegetarian choices as well as burgers and sandwiches. Best of all they have a true commitment to using local and organic ingredients! You will find things like dijon-grilled free range chicken with Kulana wild boar Portuguese sausage, Hamakua Mushroom pot pie (vegetarian or with chicken) or duck confit with Hawaiian Vanilla poached pear compote and Puna honey bordelaise on their dinner menu. Prices range from $9-$24. Lunch is equally as interesting with lots of cool sandwiches, salads and appetizers. The service was so warm and friendly. This really is one of my favorite restaurants on the island and it seems to get better and better. Don't be put off by it's odd location-between Walmart and Office Max in Hilo! Such and interesting and eclectic menu! |
