| Cell Phone Use Outlawed While Driving as of January 1st, 2010 -

As of January 1st, 2010, Big Island drivers will not be allowed to use traditional cell phones while driving. Hands-free phones will be allowed. Violators will be fined up to $500. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, people are four times as likely to be involved in a crash while talking on their cell phones. |
