Ka Makani O Ka`u
This is a mid sized guitar and is my most popular model,
especially in the old style - ho`kahiko. This guitar, like the
Punahele Iki and the Mauna Loa features a neck with
13 frets to the body. The reason I do this is simple -
for me it makes the most sense. This allows me to place
the bridge in an optimum position for sound and sustain,
and gives the advantage of much easier access to frets
12 - 14 than a 12 fret neck..
Players almost universally don't notice that this is not a
14 fret neck unless it is pointed out. This guitar has a
clean balanced sound, plenty of bass without being
overpowering.
