A Big Island Bed and Breakfast Retreat

Hale Ho'okena is your home away from home. This Hawaii state licensed B & B has 5 bedrooms to choose from, a pool and a spa. Located on 6 acres in the middle of a historic location in South Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii, this restored 50's ranch house, which was built from wood grown on its property, and its bunkhouse are filled with works of art and unique special touches that never cease to pleasantly surprise. The owner, John Griffey, a Big Island resident for 35+ years, can answer your questions about the history of the area and any activities you might care to investigate while you're here. The private, quiet grounds are populated with lots of animals (horses, cows, turkeys, dogs, pheasants and Hawaiian birds). Mango and other fruit trees abound. The famous, sweet, white pineapple grows on the property, and "just about every type of flower you could think of".

Weddings are lovely here, and there is lots of room for a big family.

Ho'okena beach is just 1.2 miles below the property, with its good boogie boarding, snorkeling and dolphin viewing. Hunting, fishing and other boat activities are available upon request (the owner has a boat). A pool table, dart game and lots of board games are available for your entertainment, as well. Hi speed internet access will be available as of early June, 2006.

The Rooms -
The Bunk House has 4 bedrooms, each bedroom sharing a bath with one other room. Each bedroom has A/C and a small fridge. One bedroom has a queen size bed, one has twin beds that can be put together to make a king size bed, one has a queen size waterbed and shares a bath with the "trundle suite", which has a bed that pulls out into 2 twins (see photo of bed on slide show). The bunk house living area has satellite TV, coffee maker, microwave, griddle, a nice sound system, and high speed internet access. There is also a Ranch House Suite available in the main house with king size bed, private bathroom, cable TV, a massage room and access to the pool.

Rates and Other Info -
Prices per room (double) in the Bunk House start at $100 per nite without breakfast, and $125 per nite with breakfast. The Ranch House Suite is available for $150 per nite (two people), without breakfast, and $200 per nite with breakfast.. Hawaii state tax (11.25%) will be added to each room booking. We will try our best to accommodate special diets by advance request. Check In Time is 3:00 pm and Checkout Time is 12:00 noon daily. A 3 Nite Minimum Stay is required. A Deposit of 20% of the total room rate is required to hold your accommodations, with the Balance due 30 days prior to arrival. Cancellations must be received 30 days prior to arrival for full refund.
