first time visit to Hawaii on our honeymoon from Europe

Hello everybody, greetings from a cold and wet Luxembourg in Europe,

great site, like it very much!

My wife and myself are currently planning our honeymoon to Hawaii arriving in at the beginning of Feb 2010. We'll be flying into Honolulu and will spend a couple of days there doing the sights but for us the big attraction of coming to Hawaii it to visit Big Island, it's going to be a dream come true!! :-)

We are now at the stage of organising the detail of our trip ourselves but are finding it difficult to find general information, so my questions to you are:-

1/ do you recommend that we take an internal flight from Honolulu to Big Island and if so which airline do you recommend? and where should we fly into?

2/ we have three days on Big Island (which I know is not a lot :-/ , we'd love to get a down to earth feel and flavour of the place and stay with local people, possibly a comfortable B&B, do you have any recommendations? in which area should we stay?

3/ what are the unmissable highlights on the island, are there good local organised tours that will give us a taste of the natural beauties on the island, can you recommend any in particular? I hear a helicopter ride is fantastic can you also recommend a couple of good operators.
