In response to 40639: South Kohala Dining, posted by Kerri P on Sunday, 1 November 2009, at 12:04 p.m.

My wife and I feel that the Pahu'ia at the Four Seasons is the best, but most expensive of course and a 45 minute drive for us in Hawi. However, Brown's at the Fairmont Orchid is a close second except for the lack of beach-side dining. We hiughly recommend it. But, our favorite in Kohala on a once in a blue moon "date" is Merriman's in Waimea...all locally-grown/caught...and they offer a $29.95 early bird special from 5:30-6:30 that includes a choice of salads, entres and a dessert...great service...a heck of a deal these days....
