Mauna Kea Clambake opinions/other recommendations?

Would love to hear your honest opinions on the Mauna Kea Clambake. We're visiting the week of Christmas and considering making reservations. The setting sounds beautiful, but it is expensive, and I wonder about the quality of the food, particularly since it is a buffet.

If the Clambake is not recommended, I'd be greatful for any suggestions for our one special night out -- a beautiful setting and great food, preferably close to Waikoloa Beach area. It will be my husband, me, and our sons, ages 16 & 24. We're going to eat at our condo a good many nights, as well as some less expensive options on other nights, but want to have at least one good, special meal out one night.
