In response to 115780: Lava Zone 2 Home Insurance, posted by Kevin Z on Thursday, 5 November 2009, at 11:36 a.m.

There are only two choices for insurance in zone 2, Lloyd's of London and HPIA which is the state insurance and has a limit of 350K. We are in South Kona, Papa Bay and this year we switched from the state insurance back to Lloyd's because it was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper for us (state rates took a big jump) and included hurricane insurance while HPIA does not. Our coverage cost just under $2700....ouch!
