In response to 115780: Lava Zone 2 Home Insurance, posted by Kevin Z on Thursday, 5 November 2009, at 11:36 a.m. You need to know that insurance is very costly in that area. I heard that the only company offering it is Lloyd's of London. There should be a government sponsored program like there is for flood...but I don't know of one. This is a real consideration when purchasing property in the high risk zones as it adds big bucks to your annual budget. I was not aware, however, that Kealia was in zone 2....I thought most of South Kona was in Zone 3....you might recheck that. Your property must be just barely over the line. Best wishes.
