In response to 142304: Response To WHT Editorial, posted by Aaron S on Sunday, 10 June 2018, at 12:23 p.m.
Aaron and I obviously agree on this point, as was made plain in my guest column in WHT two weeks ago. I saw an NBC report yesterday that stated the Big Island is "cracking apart under residents." On a science site, "volcanologists" were estimating that when Puna breaks off into the sea, how tall the tsunami will be. However, there is no minimizing the 10,000 - 30,000 foot toxic gas plumes that are blowing directly to Kona (citation: USGS) virtually on a daily basis. If you monitor the USGS alerts every morning, as I do, you will notice that there is a new violent explosion almost every night or morning. In my humble opinion, WHT is courageous to bring up the dubious performance of public health authorities. The public backlash has already had an effect, evidenced by an increase in public information and, finally, actual participation by the formerly slumbering Civil Defense agency.
p.s., Aaron knows this, of course, but for the benefit of people who don't live here, "shoots" is the local word for "agreed."
