In response to 142252: re: Question about air quality in Kona, posted by Harry A2 on Friday, 1 June 2018, at 7:08 p.m.

Aloha Harry, this is Harry. It's not so bad today. It's 9:13AM Saturday and I'm looking out my window and I can see all of the flatlands several miles below my house; Kailua town, the harbor, the coastline from Kailua to Costco, most of the ocean, but not the horizon. I would call the vog "light". As someone pointed out, a few days ago it was extreme; 150 & 153 two days in a row. Those days I could not see any of what I described above. What I am seeing today we would have called normal in 2017. It will get thicker as the day wears on. It has always gotten thicker in the afternoon for the past 20 years. Mahalo,Harry
