Local and Remote CU's
In response to 141834: Banks, posted by Jim L3 on Tuesday, 13 March 2018, at 5:41 p.m.
I use Hawaii Community Federal and like it. I also have a credit union (First Tech - was associated with HP and other tech companies). They are a mainland CU and I have had no issues with depositing money or writing checks. Because most credit unions are part of the same network, you can deposit to a remote CU via many local CU ATMs.
Also there are other ways to use checks and do saving via an online financial institutes like CapitolOne, or even plaves like Fidelity.Com an investment company.
If the rate of savings is important, try BankRate.Com to compare institutions.
A local CU is useful to be able to visit sometimes, like to dump change into the machine to get dollars or to get a Notary. Still, if you use your credit card often, an online account for checkinga nd savings is really convenient.
Δ Credit unions make it simple banks are hard
