Yup that is one of the services Kona Car guy does. It's not required since you can drive your car here for 30 days without doing anything. You can also go and arrange to use your car for the remainder of your previous state registration. I'm not sure of all of the rules for this but it's not too hard. You will notice that there are few foreign plates here.
I arranged to get my car elsewhere and it wasn't too much trouble to do it myself. I only had 60 days until my Colorado registration expired so I got HI plates soon after arrival. The wait in line to do registration is dependent upon the day. You will have to go there sometime to get a drivers license. That's really easy too. Hawaii is the only state I have gotten a license where they give you a temporary. (it looks fake).
