In response to 141684: Should valuables go in Container or mail?, posted by Nicole M on Thursday, 18 January 2018, at 2:20 p.m.
If you can't wear all the jewelry then I suggest registered mail. A postal employee has to sign for it each time it makes a transition. Every seam on the package must we taped with paper tape so they can stamp all the tapes edges to prove there was no tampering. I suggest you go to the USPS website for instructions so you'll have it right when you get to the window. Insure it for full value. I don't think there is any safer way to ship valuables than registered mail. As far as the paperwork is concerned, regular priority mail should suffice as who would want to steal you birth certificate? Medicine? Why not just flush it and get new prescriptions when you arrive? No? Then regular flat rate priority should be fine. Mail the day you leave to your new address. Most likely, for the registered package, you'll have to go to the post office and sign for it.
