it all depends on the situation
In response to 141641: quit claim deed is the answer to house xfer, posted by Rich E2 on Friday, 12 January 2018, at 4:42 p.m.
My ex and I fought more during the divorce proceedings than we had while married. And this was with a "simple, uncontested" divorce. We had a house, he wanted to stay in in, I had already moved out of the area. He wanted to be sure I had no claim on any future salary he made. I one point I told him to just "sell the d#mn house" and that kind of helped to settle the house matter. He kept it, he made the payments, my equity continued to grow, and eventually he bought me out. If I hadn't had a lawyer advising me along the way I may have caved to some of the ex's demands.
