Narrow roads in Napo'opo'o
As a long time visitor and a soon to be resident of the Kealakekua Bay area, I have a question which has puzzled me. Puuhonua Road which runs from the end of Lower Napa'opo'o Road to the transfer station, and Keala Keawe Road which comes from the other direction from Two Step to the transfer station are very narrow roads. Keala Keawee was widened slightly a few years back, but is still less that two lanes wide at many points. Puuhonua is barely one lane, requiring someone to pull over into driveways to let others go by. Since everyone in that area makes trips to the transfer station, often in largish trucks full of debris...it seems inherently dangerous. I would love to hear the history of why they remain so narrow, when so much traffic needs to run through there. Any insights?
