Aloha Kevin,

Rent a 4WD vehicle from Harper and drive down. Take a right at the bottom to get to the beach. You can go left as far as you can go, but I wouldn't take a rental vehicle across the river. There are one or two spots where you have to cross the river, and there isn't that much else to see on the other side. Part of the road is washed out, so to get to that part of the road that takes you in the back of the valley you have to drive IN the river around the horse stables. I've never tried it and I never will. If they get a downpour up around Mud Lane, you won't know it, but the river will rise rapidly down in the valley.
