Panels Facing East?? You betcha!
In response to 140708: electric bills, posted by Richard B on Friday, 10 March 2017, at 9:00 a.m.
I am off the grid at 1,250' elevation. For years I had 14 panels facing south and I always had to run my backup generator a couple hours every night. When I added new panels last year my electrician (Dale Robertson of DR Electric ((936-0233 hawaiiraider-at-msn.com) suggested I put 8 of them facing east. Why? Because the sun is blazing on them in the morning before the clouds roll in. My batteries are now fully charged by noon and I haven't have to run my generator once since I installed them. Jeff's problem is probably because, at his elevation, the sky is cloudy by the time the sun is above his array.
