The KONAWEB Cam overlooks Kailua Bay, in Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Photos are taken every 15 seconds, looking South toward the Royal Kona Resort from the Seawall Office of CENTURY 21 All Islands who graciously provide the network connection for our camera. The image to the right, kindly sent to us by a Forum member, shows a rare Hawaiian Pueo (day flying owl) caught in flight on the webcam. November 18, 2006 we received the following letter from Konaweb member Darlene. (On September 16, 2005, a large storm was churning up the waves on Kailua Bay.) "Before our daughter Carrie moved here, she used to connect to the KONAWEB religiously. She sent us this picture she captured from the Kona WebCam." January 2008 circumstances required that we change the location of the web cam. The new location is closer to street level, and is a single higher quality image.
Although the new camera does not show the cruise ships, you will sometimes see large numbers of visitors walking by the camera. How to Estimate the Current Vog Level
